In this section of EveryBlock, you can find out about criminal activity near you, from shoplifting and auto thefts to burglaries and robberies.

The information, from the Atlanta Police Department, includes the location of the reported crime, the date it occurred, an incident number, the police beat where the crime occurred and the type of crime that was reported, such as aggravated assault, willful killing, etc.

Note that not all crimes in Atlanta (reported or otherwise) will appear here. See more on this below.

The information comes from the "Download Crime Data" section of the police department's crime mapping page. We at EveryBlock look for new reports each week.

What else should I know about crime in Atlanta?

The data we use to create this section is used by police commanders at weekly meetings. But the department is quick to point out that these reports do not necessarily reflect official police statistics.

The department also includes the following disclaimer:
